La Flèche Zoo
The La Flèche Zoo was the first private zoo to open in France, in 1946. Nearly a century later, the zoo is still celebrated and is one of the top 5 most visited French zoos.
The La Flèche Zoo, formally known as the Tertre-Rouge zoological park, is a private zoo.
The diversity of plant species that can be found here is what makes the zoo unique. Naturally, the plants contribute to the animal’s well-being, and, indirectly, to that of the visitors too.
Aware of the importance of the flora for its animals, the zoo actively preserves its biodiversity and boasts over 800 plant species, each carefully located to recreate the animal’s different natural habitats.
Across its 44.5 acres, the zoo is home to 1500 animals, from 150 different species.
